Biographical Sketch

Bishop J. Phillip Betts, the son of James and the late Rosetta Betts was born and raised in Granville County, where he resides with his wife of 43 years, Pastor Teresa Betts.   They have two sons Maurice and David, two daughters-in-law: Tameka Betts and Jasmine Betts, two grandchildren: Makayla Betts and Camden Betts.

Bishop Betts has been in the Ministry since 1983 and he was ordained in 1985.  He served under the leadership of the Rev. G. A. Jones Jr. at the Wake Chapel Baptist Church until 1990.  From 1990 to 1992 he served with Word of Hope Ministries in Raleigh, NC.

In 1992 Bishop Betts founded the Cornerstone Christian Community Church in Oxford, NC, where is currently serving as Senior Pastor.  The church is located on 3237 Knotts Grove Road in Oxford, NC.  

Bishop Betts holds a Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree from Central Christian University, Lexington, NC.  He is the Founder and Chairman of Isaiah 58:12, Inc., a non-profit and outreach organization that oversees the Men & Women’s Shelter and a non-profit business.

Bishop Betts is the founder and president of Northeastern Regional Bible College of Oxford, NC, and of CAPS International Fellowship (Covering, Accountability, Prayer & Synergy).  CAPS’ purpose is to provide spiritual covering and nurturing to Kingdom Leaders, enabling them to fulfill their purpose and destinies. 

Bishop Betts serves as Local Executive Director of the Jobs for Life Program, on the Granville Educational Task Force, a member of the Kerr Tar Regional Workforce Development Board of Directors and on the Task Force of the Second Chance Program for Felons.  

Bishop Betts believes that as born again believers we are called to serve broken humanity.  His Motto is: “TO HAVE ENOUGH IS TO COMMITT ALL”.
